Brooksville Clinical Studies

1. Alzheimer’s Disease – Mild-to-Moderate
Have you or a person in your care been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or believes that they may have Alzheimer’s disease? We are conducting a clinical research study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug for Alzheimer’s disease in men and women. 2. Alzheimer’s Disease – Moderate-to-Severe
Loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s disease? Are they experiencing a decrease in their ability to perform basic daily life functions? Is their memory worsening? If so, they may qualify to participate in a clinical research study of an investigational medication to see if it can help functional ability and preservation of memory in individuals age 50 and over. 3. Alzheimer’s Disease - Nutritional Drink
Meridien Research is participating in a nationwide study evaluating the effects of a once-a-day nutritional drink on individuals with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease. To be eligible, you must be:

  • Clinically diagnosed with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Taking an FDA approved medication for Alzheimer’s Disease (Aricept, Exelon, Razadyne, and/or Namenda) for the past 4 months
  • 50 years of age or older
  • Not previously diagnosed with vascular dementia, Huntington’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, or seizures
  • Not living in a nursing home
  • Able to have a caregiver or study partner with you during all study visits

4. Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation
Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation is one of the most common stomach and intestinal disorders diagnosed today. Symptoms can include abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating and constipation. Meridien Research is conducting a 23-week research study, evaluating an investigational medication for IBS with constipation. If you are 18 years of age or older, you may qualify to participate. Participants will receive study medication at no cost. Reimbursement for time and travel may be provided.

5. Memory Impairment
Are memory issues affecting you or a loved one? A clinical research study is now enrolling adults with memory impairment. For this study, we are seeking adults between the ages of 45 and 90 with memory loss or mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Participants may receive study-related: medical care, investigational medication, laboratory testing and cognitive testing. Medical insurance is not necessary to participate in this trial. Taking action today may lead to tomorrow’s answers.

6. High Blood Pressure 1
Recently diagnosed with high blood pressure? Worried about control and potential risks? If you are at least 18-years of age, you may be eligible to participate in a thirteen-week clinical research study of an investigational medication. 7. High Blood Pressure 2
Have you been diagnosed with high blood pressure? Do you have a family history of diabetes? Are you overweight? If you are between the ages of 18 and 80 and suffer from these risk factors you may be eligible to participate in a clinical research trial of an approved FDA medication for the treatment of High Blood Pressure.

8. Overactive Bladder
Overactive bladder keeping you up all night? If you are over the age of 18 and have been suffering from overactive bladder for more than 3-months, give Meridien Research a call. You may qualify to participate in a 16-week clinical research study of an investigational medication for the treatment of overactive bladder. 9. Type 2 Diabetes
Are you a Type 2 Diabetic, taking Metformin and still having trouble controlling your blood sugar? Meredien Research is conducting a clinical research study exploring an investigational drug for Type 2 diabetes. You may be eligible if you:
•Are between the ages of 18 – 80
•Have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes
•Have uncontrolled blood sugar levels even with taking Metformin

10. Gout

Do you suffer from gout attacks? Local doctors are now conducting a medical research study in gout to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of an investigational medicine.  If you have gout, you may be eligible to participate in the RE-SURGE study, evaluating an investigational medicine for preventing acute gout flares in select patients. Researchers are interested in determining the effectiveness and safety of the investigational medicine when used in combination with the commonly used FDA-approved medicines for gout treatment.  To be considered for participation in the RE-SURGE study, you must:

  • Be 18-80 years of age,
  • Have a history of gout and are at risk of gout flare,
  • Be able to or are already receiving treatment with urate-lowering therapy (such as allopurinol), and
  • NOT currently be experiencing a gout flare

 

The investigator will work with you to determine whether you qualify for the study, using a more comprehensive list of criteria. Qualified participants will receive study medicine as well as study-related medical evaluations at no cost. Reimbursement for time and travel may also be available.

11. Stomach Ulcers

Are you at risk for developing stomach ulcers? If you are currently on a 325 mg per day aspirin regimen, you may be at risk. Meridien Research is currently conducting a 6-month clinical research study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication on reducing the possibility of developing stomach ulcers in subjects who are likely to develop aspirin-related ulcers. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Eligible participants will receive study medication and study related medical care. Compensation for time and travel may be available.
